Butter - Central U.S.
Report 43 - Released on October 21, 2020
Butter producers continue to churn steadily as late-week cream has remained available at
similar rates week to week. Butter plant managers relay cream is available from local and
from Western sources. Cream suppliers are also negotiating ahead of time for the week of
Thanksgiving. Butter demand reports remain positive. Retail customers are active ahead of
the fall/holiday rush. Food service continues to edge up weekly, but pales in comparison to
recent years. Butter producers say some retail buyers' pipelines are nearly depleted. Butter
markets continue with a softness. Contacts suggest near term expectations remain somewhat
subdued regarding butter market tones.
